Curaçao
A delightful, sunny climate, azure sea, white sandy beaches, who does not dream of such a place? Curaçao offers you all this and more ~ a small piece of Holland in the tropics, a hospitable island where summer just never ends!
Curaçao is the largest island of the Netherlands Antilles. It forms part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The advantage that this offers is that Dutch is the official language, and the system of law is based on our Civil Code.
Thanks to the island’s geographical location (leeward, 40 miles off the South American mainland), it is usually spared in the hurricane seasons. The average air temperature is 28 degrees Celsius (around 82 Fahrenheit) and the seawater temp is 27 degrees Celsius (about 80 F.). This is an ideal climate to bask in during wintertime or to enjoy a holiday!
Curaçao is easily accessible: there are daily flights from Schiphol. After a 9-hour flight you arrive at the national airport of Hato.

But Curaçao has more to offer
The various cultures that happily coexist on the island are reflected among others by the characteristic architecture, for instance the “Landhuizen” (country homes) of the plantation owners in the olden days. Many of these homes have been excellently restored and are more than worth a visit. Also in the capital of Willemstad there are many historical buildings and this was a valid reason for Willemstad to be placed on Unesco’s World Heritage List. In addition to the many sights worth visiting, Willemstad also has very attractive shopping areas and restaurants where – after having taken in the many unique sights – one can relax and enjoy the well-known and delicious Curaçao beer brewed with desalinated seawater!
Cruise ships call on Curaçao’s seaport on a regular basis. It is indeed a breathtaking experience to sit on a terrace at the Handelskade and watch one of these large majestic vessels glide by into port. In addition to the enjoyable atmosphere in town, Curaçao has a beautiful unspoiled countryside. Nature lovers can really enjoy the unique flora and fauna at their heart’s content. For diving enthusiasts, the spectacular coral reefs right off the coast are a veritable “eldorado”. Even if you just venture out with a diving mask and snorkel it is a whole new underwater world that opens up for you to enjoy.

In a nutshell, Curaçao has all the ingredients for a pleasant stay: sports accommodations, sun, beach, pleasant atmosphere, tranquility and space, good healthcare facilities and excellent supermarkets where you can find all that your heart desires.
